Student Voice

My favourite project at Heschel was the beautiful triangles project because I got to express myself through math and art.

Academics

Image Our first priority is your child’s intellectual growth and Heschel students surpass all markers for academic achievement.  More importantly, the Heschel curriculum fosters critical thinking – lifelong skills that help children understand, not just memorize. The Toronto Heschel School has incorporated a “Teaching for Understanding” model that originated at the Harvard University Graduate School of Education. Our teachers apply this structure to design and implement a performance-based curriculum. To learn new material, students must be able to demonstrate that they have understood the information; are able to expand upon it; and apply it in novel ways. We use many tools to achieve understanding, particularly the arts, multiple intelligences and multi-sensory learning. Children are taught in small skill groups, which provide each student with a high level of personal attention.

In a controversy, the instant we feel anger, we have already ceased striving for truth and have begun striving for ourselves.
