* The Tuition listed is at the prevailing CWELCC childcare rate in accordance with the current CWELCC rules for children under the age of six years (the “CWELCC Rate”). The CWELCC Rate is currently set at $22 per child, per day.
Important Information About CWELCC Rates (Preschool – SK):
- Under CWELCC rules, the school charges the CWELCC daily rate ($22/day) for up to 20 closure days (statutory or Jewish holidays) in the 2026–2027 school year.
- These closure days are included in your tuition and may lead to minor adjustments based on the actual number of closures.
- Families will be notified in advance if any tuition adjustments are made.
- The CWELCC rate is subject to change. If increased:
- Heschel may adjust Early Years tuition accordingly, even mid-year.
- The school will provide at least 30 days’ notice.
- Families may choose to withdraw without penalty if they do not accept the revised tuition.
- All tuition changes will be posted in your Billing Management tab within the enrollment portal before your payments begin.

Additional School Fees
Activity & Materials Fee (JK–Gr. 8):
A one-time annual Activity & Materials Fee is charged per student to help cover the costs of materials,
class trips, special programs and workshops, student agendas, kissuim, photocopying/printing, and
other student resources. For Junior High students, the fee also helps offset the cost of the yearbook.
Annual fee amounts
- Preschool: No fee
- JK & SK: $350 (optional; families may opt out)
- Grades 1–5: $350 (mandatory)
- Grades 6–8: $415 (mandatory)
Note (Grades 6–8): The Activity Fee for Junior High covers trips involving the full Junior High cohort.
Trips that are specific to individual grades (e.g., Grade 6 Camp Gesher, Grade 8 Shabbaton, and
Grades 7 & 8 End-of-Year Trip) are additional and are priced closer to the event.
Building Administration Fee:
$1,100 per family, per year for families with students in Grade 1 and up. The payment schedule is
selected in the Continuous Enrollment Agreement and carried forward each year. If you wish to
change your previously selected payment schedule, please email accounts@torontoheschel.org.
Gym Uniforms:
- Students in SK to Grade 8 are required to wear a gym uniform. The cost of a gym t-shirt,
sweatshirt, sweatpants, shorts and hat is approximately $114. Costs will vary based on
the pieces which are selected and can be seen here. - Students in JK are required to purchase a Heschel baseball cap to be worn during school
trips.
Charitable Tax Receipts for Tuition
A charitable tax receipt for tuition payments for JK through Grade 8 will be issued for the maximum permissible amount per regulations of Canada Revenue Agency. For the past few years, this amount has averaged between 85% and 100% of the tuition payments (based on full fee payments), which brings the after-tax cost of tuition down significantly.
The example below is for a full-paying family and may vary depending on individual circumstances.
Example: Calculation of After-Tax Cost of Tuition
(based on 2026-27 Gr 1-8 fees)
Tuition Paid: | $22,530 |
Net amount for donation receipt (93% of tuition, based on average over past few years): | $20,953 |
Approximate tax liability savings when applying tuition receipt (calculated at 45%; may vary according to individual’s circumstances): | $10,165 |
After-tax cost of tuition: | $12,365 |
After-tax cost of tuition as percentage of tuition paid: | 55% |
Please note:
- For Early Years (Preschool, JK and SK), childcare receipts will be issued.
- The examples above are based on full fee payments. They do not apply in the case of scholarship or other tuition support.
